In front of a beautiful park and few minutes away from People's Square, Papa’ Mario Pizzeria & Restaurant puts the piece of our national cuisine on one of the streets with the highest concentration of "ethnic" restaurants in Shanghai.

Inside or outside in the wooden porch, Papa 'Mario is a nice place to enjoy pizza and many other Italian dishes in a family environment, all thanks to the owner, Mario Lucenti, for many years in China, where he opened several Italian clubs also reported by Lonely Planet.

In Shanghai, Mario continues with the idea of a quality restaurant, but affordable for everyone. Pizza, first of all, baked at sight and reasonable prices starting from the romana and margherita (40/50 yuan, resp.), switching to a generous calzone, to the Parma ham or four cheese. A soft pizza, not too thick or  thin, naturally leavened from the mix of different flours.

Papa'Mario is not just pizza. Mario's cooking is inspired, above all, to the tastes and flavors of his homeland, Modena, but with the influences of other Italy's areas: from the appetizers - smoked salmon, carpaccio, shrimps in cocktail sauce or grilled vegetables – to the pasta of course, a “must” the bolognese and carbonara, to the tasty dumplings with speck, spinach and ricotta ravioli with tomato sauce and amatriciana gnocchi.

The choice continues between meat dishes (veal cutlet Milanese, scallops with mushrooms, a tender fillet of beef, etc.), and grilled fish: calamari, fillet of sole, sea bass.

Papa’ Mario is also a pit stop recommended for pizza takeaway.
