For once, talking about an Italian restaurant we'd like to start from his position, which in this case is very special: within the historical and monumental Laochangfang, now known as 1933, the old slaughter house was built in '30s in art deco style, and recently converted to "creative space" which is also a pleasant and unique area for shopping and relaxation.

In Hongkou area, easily accessible, only about 10 minutes by taxi from the Bund, 10 minutes from Lujiazui (Pudong), passing through the original shops, cafes and art galleries youcango up to thesecond floor through the spiral corridors where you can notice the big red door of the restaurant.

If the building strikes with the architecture, the restaurant is not far behind presenting itself asan open space localwith bar, restaurant ,lounge and  a large open kitchen that always attracts the eye for cleanliness and modernity.

Recently renovated, the menu of Rosso Italiano, unique in China, offers as his specialty the Ligurian cuisine, represented by the Genoese chef Leandro Carrega, with imported and local ingredients and a wine list for every taste and pocket.

Quite original the idea of a menu in the Ligurian dialect, that if it might seem too tight to an Italiant, always gives the opportunity to take refuge in English (and Chinese) translation.

A must ,as appetizer, is the original pesto alla genovese and focaccia ,but it would bejust the beginning...

With its 500 meters of space, the restaurant is also suitable for private parties, meetings and exhibitions of art
